Confessions of a Dollaholic

Just done watching a movie called "confessions of a Shopaholic" , it was about a woman who is willing to spend all for designer bags, shoes, clothes and accessories. yet she didn't have the income to do so.all in all she had to lose everything before she can stop her addiction for fashion.

somehow, I can relate to the movie, not that I have a big addiction to designer stuffs. It's in a way that I love dolls. I do not want them all. but when I do, and if that doll model gets into the"wishlist" I'd do everything to get it.

Currently I have 17 dolls, which includes 2 Taeyangs, 7 Pullips, 7 Little Pullips and 1 Customed Pullip. Not to mention I have 3 barbie dolls in which I kept for sentiment's sake. Each doll would cost 4000 up to 9000 Philippine Pesos, though the Little Pullips is cheaper for about 2000php. Not to mention I  customize them by changing their bodies, hair, and eyes. Even the clothes they wear I tend to be picky with.

Doll collecting is a hobby, I didn't expected. 3 years ago, I just wanted to try cosplay and I did. with that came my interest in dolls, soon after I gave up on cosplay to focus on doll collecting since I cannot sustain for 2 expensive hobbies. I started with 1 Pullip, my Pullip Naomi, I asked my uncle who lives in a place near a shop that sells Pullip dolls to get me one and I'll pay him for it, turns out he gave her as a Gift to me for my birthday instead. Initially I wanted 3 dollies only, then soon after one by one my dolly family grew. and so is the debt I have upon collecting them, and mind you that is the collecting part alone, I have not custom ed each and every one yet since the bodies would cost around 1500- 2000 pesos, not to mention extra hands that adds more movement in the dolly pictures that I take. also good wigs cost around the same price as the bodies.

Its insane, I know most people would think like that. Spending up to 9000php for a doll, how stupid ain't it? But no, I don't think so. These dolls are precious not because of the cost, but because of how they make me feel, because of how they take away my mind from reality into their perfect little world. in return, I treat them like my own children, dressing them up, cleaning, and most of all take pictures of them, and in those pictures, they do come alive. I love this hobby, it takes me to different worlds, worlds which are product of my creative mind. Each and every doll I have has their own personality and I make sure that it is seen through how I dress them up. I believe that each of them reflect at least one of my personalities. They portray a part of me every time a picture is taken. thus, I hate when people try to steal doll photos online with out crediting the owner. cause, I believe doll collectors envisions their dollies as somehow alike with them. just like how God created human beings with his own image and likeness. thus, if you steal a doll photo, if you take that photo edit it or even caption that it is yours, then you are stealing a part of it's owner.

Doll collecting is not  a joke, believe me spending much for a doll really hurts the wallet. And it takes a lot of sacrifices to obtain that grail doll. It is not something you do one day and stop the next, and it is not for people who wants to get a good doll for cheap price. Its not how expensive your dolls are, its how you value them, how you cared for them, and how you love them.

Many people would not understand, but for doll collectors these marionettes gives us back the love we have for them through joy and entertainment and even compliments they get when people acknowledge how beautiful they are.

People may say I am weird and childish/childlike for this but, YES;

I am a Doll Owner
I am a Hobbyist
I am a Doll Photographer
I am a Dolly Mother
I am a Doll Enthusiast

I am a Doll Collector and I am very Proud of it.
